Top Clinton Aide Praises Proposition 87 Former President Clinton Chief of Staff John Podesta said on Thursday that Proposition 87 is a key step toward breaking our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.  Dr. Severin Borenstein also addressed the UCLA Anderson Forecast conference and said the No on 87 campaign’s ad campaign is “misleading.” “Passing Prop. 87 will help pave the way for similar federal policies needed to reduce our country’s dependence on foreign oil,” Podesta said.  “That benefits everyone.” “The oil companies are launching a completely misleading advertising campaign saying it [Prop. 87] will raise gasoline prices,” Borenstein said.
